Match to be played on Tuesday March 18 2014 at 19:45 GMT. Venue: Stamford Bridge, London.
Chelsea head into the second leg of their last 16 game against Galatasaray level at 1-1 with an important away goal in the bank.
The Blues come fresh off of a disappointing defeat away at Aston Villa in the Premier League, which left Jose Mourinho furious with the standard of officiating during the game at Villa Park.
He has one or two selection issues to mull over ahead of the game but should name a side capable of winning this match comfortably.
Here’s the potential starting eleven.
GK – Petr Cech
Cech is one of the most experienced players in Chelsea’s side. He’ll keep his place as the number one.
RB – Branislav Ivanovic
Ivanovic should take his usual place on the right hand side of the defence. He’ll be an important player pressing forward and defensively.
CB – Gary Cahill
Cahill is the natural choice to play at right sided centre-half. He’s a very strong and agile player who is capable of dealing with the physical presence of former Blues legend Didier Drogba.
CB – John Terry
It’s a tough ask for Terry to play again so shortly after the Villa game but expect him to line up in central defence. His leadership skills will be tested if the Blues go behind early in the game.
LB – Cesar Azpilicueta
Azpilicueta continues to keep Ashley Cole out of the left-back role. The Spaniard has been reliable so far this season and guarantees a good work rate and enthusiasm.
RM – Willian
Willian is suspended for Chelsea’s next league game so Mourinho could ask him to go all out on the right hand side.
DM – John Obi Mikel
Mikel can play that role of sitting and protecting the back four with Nemanja Matic unavailable for this game.
CM – Ramires
Ramires will miss the next three Premier League games so similarly to Willian, Mourinho could urge him to go all out for 90 minutes to get the Blues over the winning line.
AM – Oscar
Oscar is the obvious choice to slot in behind the main striker at the top of the midfield. He can make a chance out of nothing in seconds.
LM – Eden Hazard
Hazard continues to play well and did well in a number of statistical areas against Aston Villa. Mourinho will want goals from his Belgian attacker.
ST – Samuel Eto’o
Eto’o can lead the attack and harass the Galatasaray defence, looking for a way through their back four and trying to get on the end of the remotest of chances.
