Possible silver-lining for United if they lose out to Madrid in battle for midfielder

French international and former Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba is said to be holding out for a move to Real Madrid.

The young midfielder has developed incredibly over the last couple of years.

The 21-year-old used to be on the books at Manchester United under former boss Sir Alex Ferguson, but after limited opportunities, left the club to line up alongside Andrea Pirlo at the Old Lady in Italy.

The French international star is now looked upon as one of United’s greatest losses of the modern era – especially when considering that his box-to-box approach is just the type of midfielder that they are crying out for now.

According to reports in the Mirror, David Moyes had kept interest in the £35million rated midfielder, and was looking at making a bid to bring him back to Old Trafford this summer.

Unfortunately for the Red Devils, it seems Paul Pogba has his eyes elsewhere.

Despite the interest from French champions Paris Saint-Germain, it is said that Pogba instead fancies a move to La Liga to join up with French legend Zinedine Zidane at Real Madrid.

The Spanish league leaders – who are in the midst of their second Galactico spell under Florentino Perez – will have been impressed with Pogba this season. The Juventus man has been in stunning form for the Serie A leaders, starting 23 games, scoring six and assisting a further five.

A possible Pogba move to the Bernabeu, however, may just have a silver-lining for the Red Devils.

Another midfielder in the Madrid ranks could push Sami Khedira further out of the first-team picture, and with suggestions that he could move this summer, perhaps David Moyes would be wiser to tempt the German international to Old Trafford instead.

Who should Manchester United buy this summer to solve their midfield problems?
