In a story reported by The Mirror, Olivier Giroud’s wife has ordered the French international striker to leave the Emirates this summer and return to France.
Following the aftermath of Oliver Giroud’s much-publicised alleged affair, the Arsenal striker has been pleading for forgiveness – and even turned to social networking site Twitter to display his guilt.
Since making the reported £9.6m move from former French champions Montpellier in the summer of 2012, the 27-year-old has gradually become a fans favourite at the Emirates stadium and is Arsene Wenger’s number one striker at the club.
This season, he has built upon an impressive debut campaign by topping the Gunners’ goalscoring charts with 12 goals in 26 Premier League starts. For Arsenal, his goals are important but additionally his build up play and seven assists make him a valuable first-team member.
Olivier Giroud is a big player and would be difficult to replace. Unfortunately for Arsenal, his recent actions appear to have cast huge doubts over his future in North London.
A source in The Mirror explains the situation and demands from his wife, saying:
"She's agreed to take him back, but only on the condition they leave London and England.
"He's desperate to save the marriage because he knows how stupid he's been - so he is going along with what she wants."
It has also been reported that Giroud has met with Muzzi Ozcan – a reported ‘super agent’ – on Thursday in order to deal with his future prospects.
However both Giroud's agent and Ozcan have both denied this was the reason for their meeting.
Could Olivier Giroud leave at the end of the season? Are Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco the only two options? Where would that leave Arsenal?
The questions are endless, and the speculation regarding Olivier Giroud’s future is set to make the headlines between now and the end of the season.
