Sunday rumour mill: Man United eye £37 million Arsenal target

Julian Draxler

The Daily Star has indicated that David Moyes’ men are ready to battle with the Gunners for Julian Draxler’s signature.

Arsenal are believed to have made an approach to sign Schalke’s immensely talented attacking midfielder Julian Draxler in January, and are expected to return for him in the summer.

However, Arsene Wenger’s men look set to have competition for the Germany international’s signature, with a report in the British press today suggesting that Manchester United will also make an approach for the 20-year-old.

Draxler is said to have a release clause in the region of £37 million written into his contract, which David Moyes’ side are believed to be interested in triggering if The Daily Star is to be believed.

Schalke have previously stated their ambition to hold onto their prize asset, but are realistic that some of Europe’s biggest clubs are eyeing the playmaker.

United are expected to splash the cash in the summer after a disappointing campaign, with creativity and energy in midfield necessary.
