Sunday rumour mill: Liverpool scout ex-England under-19 prospect

The Mirror has suggested that the Anfield outfit are keeping a close eye on Reading’s Jordan Obita.

Liverpool have a number of excellent young prospects on their books, with Brendan Rodgers eager to bring another one to Anfield this summer according to The Mirror.

The Merseysiders are believed to be keeping a close eye on Reading’s Jordan Obita and have sent scouts to watch the youngster’s performances in the Championship.

The 20-year-old has broken into Madejski Stadium first-team this season after loan spells at Oldham, Portsmouth, Gillingham and Barnet.

A former England under-17 and 19 international, the winger has started 22 times for Reading this season, scoring a solitary goal.

Impressive performances are said to have attracted interest from Liverpool, with the Reds encouraged by Obita’s ability to play in a number of positions.

Although predominantly a winger, the youngster is also able to play in central midfield and The Mirror suggest that Rodgers sees the potential in using Obita as a left-back also.
