Last night saw the title race blown wide open yet again as Aston Villa defeated Chelsea at Villa Park. The 1-0 win also came at a personnel cost to Chelsea - as Ramires, Willian and Jose Mourinho were all sent off by referee Chris Foy.
But after ten minutes in the Manchester City v Hull game yesterday it looked as though they were trying their best to lose the race.
Vincent Kompany’s red-card created doom and gloom for the Blue side of Manchester - as Hull also looked dangerous against the title chasers.
However, City had an ace in the pack.
David Silva was instrumental in the club’s title winning 2011-12 season - but has struggled to find his best form ever since.
However yesterday he was back to his best.
He scored a stunning opener and assisted Edin Dzeko for the icing on the cake in a 2-0 win.
And one player who wanted to commend him on Twitter was Liverpool keeper Pepe Reina.
The fellow Spaniard is currently at Napoli on loan - and has recently been apathetic to his future at Liverpool, after being replaced by Simon Mignolet at the start of the season.
And he probably didn’t bat an eyelid toward Liverpool’s title challenge when he sent this message to his international team-mate:
