Put simply, Manchester United must win this afternoon if they want to stand any chance of qualifying for next season’s Champions League. And even then, they may fall short.
But David Moyes will not be worrying about that for now. He will simply be attempting to inspire his side to a vital three points. But then so will Brendan Rodgers, who will have seen Chelsea slip up on Saturday and know the Reds have a huge chance of winning the title come May.
United have already beaten Liverpool once at Old Trafford this season, in the League Cup at the start of Moyes’ tenure, but can they keep Luis Suarez, Daniel Sturridge and co at bay again today?
One thing is for sure, if the Reds win this afternoon, they are well and truly title contenders, no matter how much Rodgers may want to downplay that fact.
What do you think the result will be this afternoon?
