Paris Saint-Germain take on Saint-Etienne is Sunday's big game in Ligue 1. Both sides desperately need the points, but for vastly different reasons. The league leaders, PSG, will be hoping to take another step towards the title and keep their distance from rivals Monaco. Saint-Etienne are in a battle for third place, and with Lille's draw against Nantes on Saturday, it is a chance to close the gap to just two points.
Les Verts have a decent recent record in this fixture and have become somewhat of a bogey team for PSG lately, but they are without the speed and trickery of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who was deadly when Saint-Etienne last won in the Parc des Princes.
It should be an excellent game, and here are three players to watch and what they will bring to the game:
EDINSON CAVANI - PSG
Yes, it is strange to pick out a €64 million striker as a player to watch. The Uruguayan has 14 goals this season and has been superb in his debut Ligue 1 season. And amidst the constant speculation about his future, the former Atletico Madrid striker will be staying in Paris for the foreseeable future.
One of the reasons he has been linked with a move away is the position he plays in this PSG side. Zlatan Ibrahimovic is the central striker, and in the formation line-ups, Cavani is listed on the right-wing. What to watch from tonight is the movement from the 27-year-old, whenever Zlatan drops deep, as he has tended to do a lot this season, Cavani takes the opportunity to drift inside and become the traditional number 9.
His off-the-ball movement is beautiful to watch, and he is so intelligent and gives defenders a constant head-ache. He has just about gotten back to full match fitness and should be really up for this game tonight.
ROMAIN HAMOUMA - Saint-Etienne
Quite easily the most dangerous player in the Saint-Etienne squad this season. After breaking through into French football as a gifted winger, he has developed his game since joining Les Verts and is now an all-round attacking threat and can provide a threat from all over the pitch.
Is isn't the quickest wide player, but his change of direction, quality on the ball and his ability to find his teammates with precise passes makes him an exciting player to watch.
He will be vital on the counter-attack tonight. He will drift from side to side and look to find spaces in-between both Maxwell and Gregory van der Wiel when they burst forward. He has an appetite for the big occasion, and it doesn't get much bigger than PSG away.
KURT ZOUMA - Saint-Etienne
Tonight is going to be a massive test for French teenager if Christophe Galtier gives him the nod for tonight. The 19-year-old will come face to face with both Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Edinson Cavani. Both strikers offer a different challenge and it will be fascinating to see how he copes.
The physical battle with Ibrahimovic will be a great test for young Zouma, but it’s how monitors him when the Swede drops deep that will be a huge test of his defensive abilities. Once he gets to grip with Zlatan, he'll have the added job of watching the excellent movement of Cavani. Both players are amongst the top in the world and Zouma will need to show of all the qualities that led to Chelsea signing him if he is to win the battle.
Zouma is definitely strong enough to deal with Zlatan, he has the pace and awareness to control Cavani, it just depends on whether he can do both in the same game. It threatens to be a wonderfully interesting battle.
