Once labelled as Arsenal’s next big thing, Frimpong’s football career has so far failed to live up to the promise of his early days – but that hasn’t stopped him from performing for his many fans.
The 22-year-old Ghanaian international made just a handful of appearances for Arsenal, yet it was enough for him to become something of an icon for Arsenal fans.
A particular argument during an FA Cup tie with former Arsenal star Samir Nasri – who was then playing for Manchester City – is well-remembered, and was arguably the highlight of Frimpong's short career at the Emirates. Frimpong was, however, respected by Arsenal fans for his no-nonsense style.
In January, he finally left the Gunners to join struggling Championship side Barnsley. He certainly made an immediate impact, but not in the way he wanted - his debut lasted just 30 minutes, following a red card against Yorkshire rivals Sheffield Wednesday.
Frimpong – who was once likened to Alex Song and Michael Essien - has since appeared more for the Tykes, and following a recent game, he stripped to the waist and performed a rap for his fans on Instagram.
Although there may well be a question mark over how far Frimpong will go in football, the ex-Arsenal legend doesn't appear to stand much chance of making it as a rapper!
