Following a disappointing defeat at home to Portuguese league leaders Benfica in the Europa League Thursday - making progression in that tournament unlikely - this Sunday’s derby clash at White Hart Lane is massive for Tottenham.
Six points currently separates Tottenham in fifth from Arsenal in third, with Manchester City wedged in between the clubs, but having played three games fewer than Spurs (and two less than Arsenal).
If Tottenham are to finish in the Champions League places, Arsenal are arguably the easiest team to overhaul, but Tottenham simply have to win on Sunday to keep their Champions League hopes alive.
Tottenham's Brazilian midfielder Sandro has been unlucky with injuries this season, only recently returning to the starting XI. Despite picking up a knock against Benfica on Thurday, however, the 25-year-old is set to feature this Sunday – a game he says he loves to play in.
Speaking with the official Spurs website ahead of the game, Sandro commented that the match generated an amazing atmosphere, and mentioned how he believes a Tottenham victory can change everything in the race for a top four spot:
'This is a great chance for us to put things right. If we can win this game it can change everything. It’s a massive game for us against Arsenal and one I really love to play in'.
Tottenham have not lost at home in the Premier League against Arsenal since 2007, and won the last two encounters between the teams 2-1 at White Hart Lane.
