Despite another big derby clash going on this weekend, for the people in North London, there is only one game that counts.
Tottenham Hotspur vs. Arsenal… A clash which has so much riding on it.
Arsenal travel to White Hart Lane still harbouring hopes of winning the Premier League title, whereas Spurs on the other hand are desperate to bridge the gap on their North London rivals and aim to break into the top four.
There are six points separating the two sides, and with Arsenal holding a game in hand, Tottenham Hotpsur simply have to win to stand a chance.
One man who knows all about this fixture is striker Emmanuel Adebayor. A former Gunner who has felt the wrath of both sets of supporters during his Premier League career, he will be eager to impose himself on the game.
Since being brought back into the team, Adebayor has since gone on to become Tottenham’s top goalscorer with eight Premier League goals – making a mockery of Andre Villas-Boas’ decision to leave him out of the starting XI.
Usually looked upon as lazy and half-hearted, the 30-year-old spoke of the huge clash. Reported by The Mirror, Adebayor commented that he and his teammates will need no extra motivation to perform to the best of their abilities:
“This is the game that everybody will be talking about in London from this point,” “Tottenham v Arsenal: The north London derby.”
“So I cannot see anybody telling me, ‘Man, you have to run. You have to give 100 per cent.”
“No one will need to tell me that. I know. And people like Aaron Lennon, who has been here for ages, you won’t have to tell players like him anything either. He knows how big it is for the club and the fans. To be honest with you, we are all looking forward to it.”
Will Emmanuel Adebayor help Spurs to victory on Sunday?
