Olivier Giroud had dinner with Muzzi Ozcan this week - but the Turkish agent has confirmed that the chat was 'just business'.
Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud thought he might have put the recent off-field headlines behind him - however that does not seem to be the case.
The Daily Mail broke an exclusive this morning that Olivier Giroud had held ‘secret talks’ with Turkish football agent Muzzi Ozcan.
Ozcan works as an agent and broker in the football world - and has particular links with both Galatasaray and Paris-Saint Germain - leading to suggestions he could make a move away from The Gunners this summer.
It was immediately denied that this was the case from Giroud’s agent - who suggested the meeting was simply for commercial purposes.
Now, the other man who is not Giroud involved in this case, has also spoken about the incident.
And he has also insisted that the reasons for the meeting were absolutely benign.
Ozcan has told the Turkish daily Hurriyet:
"I’m in the UK from Turkey. Because I come together with football players is perceived as the transfer negotiations However, no such thing, this was just business."
It certainly makes sense that there is nothing in these rumours. Arsenal need to be looking for strikers this summer - not selling them.
Giroud is criticised for his lack of agility, pace and creativity - but he never pretends to be a Suarez type.
He is a devastating striker when in form, his recent cameo v Everton proved that - and he is not afraid to mix it up when necessity dictates.
So Arsenal fans should be pleased that Giroud is seemingly not on his way out of the club in the summer.
