Arsenal will have to make do without the services of their club record signing Mesut Ozil for the majority of the remaining part of this season - after the German international pulled a hamstring playing against Bayern Munich in the Champions League last week.
Ozil, who has been going through a rough patch of form, confirmed after the game that he injured himself in the second minute of action - playing on for 43 uncomfortable minutes which would not have aided his prognosis.
Arsene Wenger confirmed the news to the press yesterday, stating:
“He has been injured on Tuesday night and I don't know how long exactly he will be out for but it looks a minimum of three weeks. The maximum is six.”
Six weeks out will see Ozil returning just in time for the Newcastle United game on the 28th April - meaning he misses massive games against Tottenham, Chelsea, Manchester City and the FA Cup semi-final against Wigan Athletic.
So it is not exactly an ideal situation.
But Ozil wanted to inform his adoring fans that he was doing his utmost to be on his way back to fitness ASAP.
He posted a picture on his official Facebook account last night - in which he is seen having a sports massage with the Arsenal physical therapy team.
He also thanked the medics and physios for trying to get him ‘back on the pitch as soon as possible’.
Which we are sure is music to Arsenal fans ears - despite a recent dip in performance.
He signed off in partisan manner -‘go gunners!’
He will hope to watch them take victory from the North London derby tomorrow.
