Arsenal morning news: Giroud sparks exit rumours; Gibbs says club 'stronger' for Spurs loss

All the latest news and gossip from The Emirates Stadium this morning.

The papers have been stirring up over the future of Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud after he was reportedly ‘spotted’ in a restaurant with top football agent Muzzi Ozcan.

He reportedly held ‘secret talks’ with the man which have now bought his future into question, according to the Daily Mail.

Giroud, who is creating a habit of being snapshotted in awkward situations recently, has recently spoken about wanting to focus on his future with Arsenal but this latest news will undoubtedly whip the rumour mill into frenzy.

Ozcan has links with Galatasaray and Paris Saint-Germain in particular - however his contracted agent, Mickael Manuello, claims the meeting was for commercial purposes and nothing else.

Former Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor has stated that the players at his current team Tottenham Hotspur need no motivation ahead of the derby game - instead they know of its importance already - and the Togolese striker is, in particular, looking forward to this tie:

“On Sunday I don’t even think we will need a team meeting. There are some games where you have to give a little bit of motivation to the players. But we know how good we are at home when it comes to Arsenal and we won’t have to motivate anybody for this game.”

Meanwhile Kieran Gibbs believes that their defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in the last Premier League North London derby at White Hart Lane was the catalyst for their excellent 2013.

He told

“It is difficult to know what happened in that transition, but I felt the team went on a kind of a revolt and refused to be defeated again that season. That is football these days, it changes very quickly and we adapted when it was hard and also when times were better. The team went through that and it has come out stronger.”
