Hulk has been in a lot of the papers this week - but his agent has moved to distance himself from such rumours.
This week has been one of rumour and conjecture in regards the future of Brazilian forward Hulk. The rumour mill has churned his name out on numerous occasions - linking the 27-year-old attacker with both Arsenal and Chelsea over the past few days.
The main reason for this renewed interest in the future of Hulk stems from Zenit St Petersburg’s decision to sack manager Luciano Spalletti - with whom Hulk was said to be close.
It was of course the Italian who splashed out €60 million to bring the player to Russia back in September 2012.
With that in mind it seemed as though teams were ready to swoop in and poach him out of his Russian adventure - an adventure which has been expensive and mixed so far in all honesty.
But the rumours slowed down when Andre Villas-Boas - his former boss at Porto - was said to be keen on taking over. The pair have a good relationship and AVB’s presence in Russia would likely see Hulk remain.
But that was just another piece of thinking added to the rhetoric - what about genuine quotes.
Well now we have some - from Hulk’s agent.
He has spoken to Italian transfer portal TMW about the future of his client - and he was pretty assured in his opinion over his future.
Teodoro Fonseca stated:
“Hulk has a very good contract with Zenit and is happy in Russia. The truth is that he is not thinking about the future, but Zenit, Zenit and Zenit only. He is not thinking of another club because he has no contact with anyone. And now is certainly not the time for the transfer market because the World Cup is almost here."
The fact his agent repeated the name ‘Zenit’ over and over (four times in total) certainly suggests he has no desire to be on his way out of the club just yet.
So anyone with designs on Hulk for the future may want to think again.
