Arsenal will be in a very good position when the summer transfer window opens because Arsene Wenger has the resources to go after his main transfer targets for next season.

Wenger is sitting on a cash pot reportedly worth well over £100 million which means the Gunners can afford the best players, especially as they are likely to retain Champions League football next season.

We’ve taken a look at the top five players linked with the Gunners this week.

1) Robin Van Persie (Manchester United)

The Dutch striker has been linked with a move back to Arsenal ever since reports of his apparent discontent at Old Trafford started doing the rounds. This is a non-runner after Arsene Wenger ruled it out as a possibility and the player himself said he was happy where he is.

2) Mario Balotelli (AC Milan)

Not a new name for anyone who follows Arsenal news regularly. Latest reports in the British press, in this case the Daily Mirror, suggest that the Serie A giants are ready to sell the Italian striker at the end of the season. He has a reported fee of around the £25 million mark.

3) Juan Iturbe (FC Porto)

There are a whole host of Premier League clubs thought to be interested in signing Iturbe and according to TalkSport, Arsenal are one of them. The 20-year-old is currently on loan at Hellas Verona and has admitted that he’d be happy to stay in Italy his whole career.

4) Francisco Alcacer (Valencia)

One of the lower profile forwards to have been linked with the Gunners this week. The 20-year-old has six goals in 13 La Liga appearances this season and the Daily Mail has suggested that Arsene Wenger wants to invest in the youngster after the World Cup.

5) Josep Drmic (FC Nurnberg)

The 21-year-old Swiss striker is another young, alternative attacking option. Wenger is thought to be an admirer of Drmic’s style of play with German newspaper Bild reporting earlier this week that Wenger has been scouting the player for months. He has 11 goals and three assists from 23 appearances.
