Match to be played on Sunday 16th March 2014 at 16:00. Venue: White Hart Lane, London.
Tottenham Hotspur need to quickly put the defeat to Benfica in the Europa League behind them and focus on beating local rivals Arsenal this weekend.
Spurs still have a great chance of getting into the Champions League by the end of this season and Sherwood needs to go into the North London derby with a very attacking side because Arsenal won’t sit back.
He will tweak the team from the side which started against Benfica and here’s the eleven players he could go with.
GK – Hugo Lloris
Lloris is one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League and there’s no reason to drop him. He’s proactive and takes a lot of pressure off of the defence.
RB – Kyle Naughton
Tim Sherwood said after the Europa League defeat last night that Walker is a doubt for this Sunday's game against the Gunners, which means another chance for Naughton to impress.
CB – Younes Kaboul
Kaboul has the strength and the power to be able to deal with the physical presence of Olivier Giroud if the Frenchman tries to back into the Spurs star.
CB – Jan Vertonghen
The left sided centre-half needs a big game. He’s made it clear he wants to play Champions League football and he can help Spurs on their journey by keeping out Arsenal’s main attacking threats.
LB – Danny Rose
Rose will use his pace to get up and down the left hand side throughout this game. He’ll be very important in terms of creating extra width on his side.
RM – Aaron Lennon
Lennon’s pace will be a big weapon for Spurs if they are forced to counter attack during the game. He can exploit any space Arsenal leave.
CM – Nabil Bentaleb
Sherwood has trusted Bentaleb in big game situations before and he’s likely to do so again. He’ll have to sit and pull the strings working both defence and attack.
CM – Paulinho
Paulinho will most likely be the player who nudges furthest forward from the midfield. He has to link the midfield with the two strikers well and try to pose a goal threat himself.
LM – Christian Eriksen
Spurs need players in this game who can make things happen and Eriksen is certainly one of those. He can hurt Arsenal with a single pass, Spurs just need to get him on the ball as frequently as possible.
ST – Emmanuel Adebayor
Adebayor’s job is simply to cause chaos in the Arsenal defence, working different players and using the motivation of playing against the sold that sold him to try and get onto the score sheet.
ST - Roberto Soldado
Sandro's injury and injuries to other players means that Sherwood may have no option other than to go for a 4-4-2 which means Soldado back in the side leading the attack.
