This weekend Liverpool take on Manchester United at Old Trafford in what is always one of the most highly anticipated games in the Premier League calendar.
This season however has seen a slight role reversal from previous years - as Liverpool play the part of title chasers and United are cast as European hopefuls.
Over the Premier League years - as Sir Alex Ferguson slowly crept United above Liverpool’s trophy haul - this fixture has arguably become the most important in a Liverpool fans season.
But that does not take away any of the significance the Merseyside Derby holds.
Nothing beats getting one over on your neighbours - as we are sure Liverpool fans can testify to after this seasons results.
But for one Liverpool player, such trivial proximity rivalry will not get in the way of a friendship.
Yesterday saw Everton winger, on loan from Barcelona, Gerard Deulofeu celebrate his 20th birthday.
And £6.8 million Liverpool summer signing Luis Alberto was more than happy to celebrate it with him.
The Red and the Blue both used to play in that mixture of colours for Barcelona B and along with Stoke City defender Marc Muniesa celebrated the Everton loanee’s birthday last night.
It might not have been a good idea in the 80’s to share such information - but we reckon Everton and Liverpool fans can allow this colluding with the enemy - just this once mind!
