Chelsea morning news: Blues to open talks over £27m striker, Serie A midfielder still on radar

Diego Costa

A round up of news stories this morning about Chelsea.

The Metro has claimed that the Blues will open talks with Atletico Madrid to sign Diego Costa at the end of the season.

Chelsea are one of several sides to have been linked with a move for the Brazilian-born forward who has been a key player for Atletico this season.

The fee which has been suggested is £27 million which could be a problem as it’s £5 million short of his buy-out clause.

TalkSport has reported that Chelsea are considering a move for Lazio’s Senad Lulic.

Chelsea are believed to be long term admirers of the 28-year-old midfield maestro and could move for him this summer.

He’s under contract until 2017 and TalkSport has suggested a potential fee of around the £9 million mark.

Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech says the pressure is on Manchester City to catch the Blues at the top of the Premier League.

Chelsea currently sit top of the league but City have games in hand which would draw them level if they won each fixture.

“Now City have to win their games in hand if they want to stay in touch with us. Let's see what they can do,” the Czech told the press.
