Tottenham's dire week continued with a 3-1 thumping at the hands of Benfica.
There was to be no fighting response from Spurs after their calamitous defensive display in the 4-1 defeat against Chelsea last week, as they leaked another three goals against Portuguese giants Benfica.
Rodrigo opened the scoring before defender Luisao added a brace, with Christian Eriksen hitting home a delightful free kick in between - the Dane's goal was a rare showing of quality at White Hart Lane tonight, as Spurs now have it all to do in the second leg.
Unsurprisingly, the focus from Spurs fans turned to manager Tim Sherwood, who has been under immense pressure recently, and tonight's result did nothing to relieve any of it.
Fans on Twitter were understandably disappointed with the showing, but some are now calling for the former England international to be sacked now rather than in the summer. With a big game on Sunday against North London rivals Arsenal, Sherwood needs a big result to calm a restless fan base.
Some fans called for Dutch manager Louis van Gaal to be appointed sooner rather than later, whilst others directed their criticism towards chairman Daniel Levy.
