Spurs fans divided on Sherwood: He's fighting for HIS future

Tim Sherwood Press Conference 12/02/2014

Tottenham Hotspur take on last year's finalist Benfica in the Europa League tonight, we take a look at what Spurs fans are talking about before the big game.

A few Tottenham fans are somewhat unimpressed with the Europa League competition, and despite it being their best chance of a trophy this season, many supporters seem to be keeping their focus on the Arsenal game on Sunday.

On the forums..

One fan in particular was adamant playing the reserves, along with Brad Friedel, arguing it would serve Spurs best with Arsenal coming up in just a few days time:

'We have so many reasons not to put in any regulars for this game. Too many injuries, league pos top priority, arrest this debacle aga top 4 teams, aga arsenal, get players to believe and refocus. Suggested line up: Brad and all the academy players.'

Although, we understand the game against Arsenal for some fans is the bigger occasion, to underestimate what a trophy could do for the club could be a mistake.

When it came to team selection, there was little variation between who the supporters thought the eleven would be with the majority opting for: Lloris, Walker, Kaboul, Vertonghen, Fryers, Bentaleb, Sandro, Lennon, Eriksen, Chadli and Adebayor.

Although there were calls to swap Andros Townsend with Aaron Lennon, who was described as a 'one trick pony' by some supporters.

On Twitter..

A lot of the focus was on Sherwood's handling of the dressing room, and what the summer holds for their former youth coach:

A number of supporters were both fighting points for and against Sherwood, however, there can be little doubt over his passion for the club.

He has demanded the players come out fighting for their future tomorrow night and with that in mind, hopefully Spurs can get a positive result for everyone involved at the club.
