Leaders of League Two sign Derby's youngest ever player on loan

Chesterfield

Mason Bennett of Derby County has joined League Two leaders Chesterfield on a month long loan.

17-year-old fan favourite Mason Bennett is joining Chesterfield on loan, the BBC have confirmed.

Considered as one for the future by everyone at the iPro, Bennett has been an exciting prospect since he first made his debut aged just 15 years and 99 days.

Playing as a centre-forward or off the wing, Bennett has made 14 appearances for the Rams this season – mainly off the bench – and has scored one goal in a 1-5 win over Millwall.

The youngster was also used by Steve McClaren in Derby's FA Cup clash against Chelsea, and impressed against Ashley Cole.

After consistently performing for England since under 16 level, Manchester City, Tottenham, Manchester United and Liverpool are all said to have watched the youngster at some point.

Bennett suffered a concussion in an FA Youth Cup clash last month, which saw him taken to hospital, where he was given the all-clear.

Can this youngster help spur on Chesterfield's promotion push?
