These days Michael Owen spends his time working as a commentator for BT Sport, is heavily involved in horse racing and also spends a lot of his time on Twitter - grinding some up the wrong way, we’re sure he would admit that much.
Yesterday saw Owen obviously busying himself with the Cheltenham Races in the daytime before heading off to watch Birmingham City v Burnley at St Andrews.
And he certainly got his money’s worth.
The two teams played out an exciting draw in the Midlands - 3-3 at full-time.
But despite a former team-mate of his at Manchester United in the form of Federico Macheda scoring twice it was a goal from a Manchester City player that had him Tweeting.
Welsh international Emyr Huws is on loan at Birmingham City from the League Cup champions - and he scored his first goal for the club yesterday.
It was a lovely crisp finish - which received this response from Owen…
Entertaining game at St Andrews finishes 3-3 and an absolute screamer scored by @EmyrHuws1.— michael owen (@themichaelowen) March 12, 2014
It continues a good month for the 20-year-old. He made his debut for Wales in the friendly win against Iceland on the 5th March and now has his first goal for his loan club a week later.
Things are certainly going good for this precocious young talent. Whether he can make it at mega-rich City remains to be seen.
Here is the goal…
