Yaya Sanogo has revealed he is back in training after missing their Champions League second leg match against Bayern Munich on Tuesday.
It has certainly been a stop-go sort of season for new Arsenal striker Yaya Sanogo so far this season. The Frenchman was brought in to the Gunners squad on a free transfer from AJ Auxerre last summer - but almost immediately found himself side-lined.
He suffered a back injury in September and didn’t feature again until the 16th February FA Cup tie against Liverpool - where he received a surprise start. He then started against Bayern Munich the week after before making appearances against Stoke City and Everton this month.
He has certainly established himself above Danish troublemaker Nicklas Bendtner in the pecking order - but he once again picked up an injury in the game against Everton last weekend.
He therefore missed the second leg against Bayern at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday night - which saw Arsene Wenger put the ineligible Ryo Miyaichi on the bench - much to the club’s embarrassment.
But Sanogo, who recently re-started his Twitter account and verified it himself via his official Facebook page, has revealed he is back in training and in contention for the North London derby on Sunday evening.
Back in the training group. Thx to all!— Yaya Sanogo (@Yayasanogoal22) March 13, 2014
Olivier Giroud remains likely to start, but Sanogo and Wenger will be pleased to see the number 22 ready for action from the bench.
