On this day: Podolski to leave for £15m and Courtois rejects Chelsea return

On the 12th March 2013 what were the stories that dominated the football landscape? Including Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City.

I am casting my eye back to this exact day, the 12th March 2014, but a year earlier.

What were the main tales from that day? What big events were happening in Premier League football?

Here are some of the big scoops from the 12th March 2013…

Luk who’s leaving now?

Lukas Podolski was being linked with an exit from Arsenal in the summer of 2013.

The German international had only been at the club for less than a year - after arriving on a £10.9 million deal from FC Koln.

He was, at the time, out of the first team at the club - but the news was still a surprise for many Arsenal fans - who had become fond of the German during his short time at the club,

But it seemed a £15 million move to Juventus or Atletico Madrid was on the cards.

Funny that - because I swear that almost a year, to the day, later he was the one who smashed home The Gunners equaliser against Bayern Munich last night.

Thibaut or not Thibaut, Chelsea is the question?

Thibaut Courtois confirmed that he wanted a third term at Atletico Madrid. The Spanish goalkeeper was in the midst of a record breaking season for Los Colchoneros - and wanted to remain at the Vicente Calderon instead of playing second fiddle to Petr Cech at Stamford Bridge.

He got his wish - and has had an even better season this term.

Talks over his future are expected at the end of the current season - but he could even spend another year at Atletico.

Mancini reaches for the Zenit

Russian outfit Zenit Saint Petersburg were reportedly eyeing up Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini as their next boss.

Mancini was set to be axed by City at the end of the season, as indeed he eventually was, and Zenit were already to sack Luciano Spalletti after his own struggles.

Interestingly, a year down the road, and it is another former Premier League manager being linked with Zenit.

Spalletti has now been fired - and former Spurs and Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas is the favourite for the job.
