Former Sky sports presenter Richard Keys laid into Arsenal’s bravery and commitment last night as Arsenal drew 1-1 at Bayern Munich.
Not brave enough Arsenal.— Richard Keys (@richardajkeys) March 11, 2014
The Gunners went into the game needing a 2-0 win to force the match into extra time and the scale of their task was made even more difficult when they went behind due to a strike from Bastian Schweinsteiger.
Keys was very blunt at points when he Tweeted throughout the game questioning the side’s bravery after the match and revealing his shock at Arsenal’s performance when they went 1-0 behind.
I can't believe this. For a team needing a result this is inept. Lacking imagination. Too slow. 1-0 Schweinstiwger. Good night.— Richard Keys (@richardajkeys) March 11, 2014
In contrast, former Tottenham Hotspur striker Gary Lineker suggested that considering the way Bayern have destroyed some sides at the Allianz this season, the fact the Gunners got a draw is actually quite admirable.
Given the fact that Bayern have battered pretty much everyone this season, that's not a bad effort by Arsenal.— Gary Lineker (@GaryLineker) March 11, 2014
Wenger does seem to be battling against something as he tries to win the Champions League with the club he’s served so well for so long and silverware is still realistic for the Gunners with a domestic double still on.
