Tottenham Head Coach Tim Sherwood has said a lot of the players are playing for their futures between now and the end of the campaign – and seems to be planning for the next season.

Sherwood – who was said to be unhappy about the uncertainty surrounding his job is quoted saying: “I’m planning for next season. It’s not good for me planning for next season if someone else is coming in. We’re obviously going to look at it in great detail, where the changes needed to be made.

“There have always been changes. You always need new players and there are always players who want to move on, but I want players who want to play for the club. They’ve got between now and the end of the season to show that.”

Two of Tottenham’s midfielders may be attracting interest from Serie A side Roma according to the Daily Express.

The paper cites reports ‘from the continent’ suggesting that Paulinho and Sandro are on their list of targets as cover for Kevin Strootman, who has recently suffered knee ligament damage.

Spurs are in Europa League action against Benfica at White Hart Lane tomorrow night, and there could be a couple of fitness boosts to the side.

Danny Rose could be in contention after recovering from a knee problem and that Christian Eriksen should be able to return.

Sherwood said: “Danny has trained for two or three days now. We’ve got him back quickly after he went off against Norwich and he’s not lost that much training.

“It’s good to have Christian back, we’ve all seen how he can affect football matches, so we hope he can do the same again, if selected.
