Erick Thohir has denied talking with Manchester United and Chelsea regarding their out-of-favour strikers.
Inter Milan owner Erick Thohir has ruled out contacting Chicharito and Fernando Torres amid recent rumours.
Manchester United are expected to have a busy summer, with big-money signings both entering and departing the club.
Inter Milan have already agreed a deal with Manchester United’s central defender Nemanja Vidic, and reports circulated over the weekend that they had contacted the Red Devils regarding out-of-favour Javier Hernandez.
The Mexican international striker has barely featured under David Moyes, starting just four Premier League matches all season. It has been a disappointing campaign all-round for Chicharito, and his lack of game-time could hinder his position as Mexico’s number one striker at this summer’s World Cup.
It is probable that ‘the little pea’ could make for the Old Trafford exit door once the season has finished, but instead of a move to Inter, a more likely scenario is to join fellow Mexicans Giovani Dos Santos, Javier Aquino and Carlos Vela in Spain.
When quizzed upon the speculation surrounding Chicharito, Inter Milan owner denied having any contact with the player, with Fox Sports quoting him as saying:
“Chicharito is a good player, but we have not spoken with he nor with [Fernando] Torres.”
Erick Thohir’s denial is pretty clear, but that isn’t to say he hasn’t thought about acquiring Chicharito at the end of the season. With Fredy Guarin still in the Inter ranks, it’s possible that Manchester United and Inter Milan may still conduct further business this summer.
