Looks who's said to want to sign Manchester United's Robin van Persie

Galatasary are said to hoping to take advantage of Robin van Persie’s alleged unhappiness at Manchester United by persuading him to join the Turkish giants.

Manchester United’s Van Persie isn’t having the best of seasons at Old Trafford, and has recently been linked with a move away from the club.

The Red Devils are struggling in the Premier League, and look almost certain to miss out on the Champions League next season – a situation which may cast doubts over some of the players’ futures.

Van Persie criticised the club’s tactics following their recent Champions League last 16 first-leg defeat to Olympiakos, and was spotted shaking his head when being substituted at the weekend – adding fuel to the fire that his time at Manchester United may be drawing to a close.

There would, of course, be any number of clubs willing to take the 30-year-old, but perhaps not as many at a price Manchester United would find acceptable.

Spanish giants Barcelona were linked with an astonishing swap deal involving Alex Song and the Manchester United striker over the weekend, but the Catalans’ top priority appears to be a replacement for Carles Puyol – not another forward. Arsenal are another club said to linked to the Dutchman, but Manchester United manager David Moyes may not be prepared to sell him to a Premier League rival.

According Turkish newspaper Mynet, however, former Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini is mulling over a bid to bring Van Persie to Galatasary.

The Turkish giants are certainly big enough to attract some of Europe’s top names, with the likes of Didier Drogba, Wesley Sneijder and Felipe Melo all currently enjoying success at the club.

Despite Turkish league being viewed as relatively uncompetitive in comparison to Europe’s major leagues, the astronomical wages which Galatasary is able to afford can certainly tempt high calibre players looking for one last big payday.
