Chelsea defeated Newcastle in the FA Youth Cup quarter-final last night.

Chelsea wonderkid Jeremie Boga netted the winner as Chelsea's under-18 side edged into the semi-finals of the FA Youth Cup.

The Geordies had led 2-1 midway through the second half, until young forward Alex Kiwomya - pictured above left centre - drew Chelsea level.

With a tie against Arsenal awaiting in the semi-final, it was Chelsea who scored the winner, with highly rated attacking midfielder Jeremie Boga scoring the decisive goal.

The French-born star is already a regular in Chelsea's under-21 side at 17, featuring nine times for them so far this season.

Yet keen for him to get into the trophy habit, Chelsea see no need to leave him out of their Youth Cup side, and his selection certainly paid off.

Dominic Solanke scored the opener for the Blues, with Newcastle pulling two goals back through Olivier Kemen and Adam Armstrong.

It had looked as though the tie at St James Park was drifting away from Chelsea until their late turnaround, with Boga scoring his stunning winner from 30-yards out.

Under-18s coach Adi Viveash said the game was "one of my proudest moments in football."

It will potentially be bettered if Chelsea can go onto lift the trophy, but must overcome the Gunners over two legs beforehand.

The Blues have won the tournament twice in the past four years, most recently in 2012 with Lucas Piazon starring. Against Newcastle they showed they certainly have the talent and drive to regain the trophy they lost in the final to Norwich City last year.
