A round up of news stories this morning about Arsenal.
The Daily Mail claims Manchester United are not interested in making a move for experienced Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen.
Reports broke last weekend that United were apparently looking at the Belgian as a replacement for Nemanja Vidic.
However, Arsenal’s skipper is not thought to be on a shortlist of defensive targets for David Moyes.
Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud is optimistic over the possibility of beating Bayern Munich in the Champions League this evening.
The Frenchman is due to start in Arsenal’s attack and he’ll be confident as he scored in this fixture last season.
“Hopefully we can keep a clean sheet first because we need to keep our goal clean and maybe if we score early, why not?” he told Arsenal’s website.
Giroud’s fellow Frenchman is also confident that the Gunners can end the silverware drought which has followed the club since 2005.
Arsenal are favourites to win the FA Cup, well placed in the Premier League and have 90 minutes to turn things around against Bayern Munich.
“Everyone is giving more - I really have that sensation. Everyone is committed to each other and that's important. We really want a trophy. Everyone was very focused on the [quarter-final] game against Everton because we all know - you win, you're through,” he told the Evening standard.
