Former Liverpool player Nuri Sahin is being tipped to sign a new deal at Borussia Dortmund.
Liverpool reject Nuri Sahin is being tipped to sign a new contract with Borussia Dortmund just days after a high profile bust up with BVB boss Jurgen Klopp.
Sahin cut a sulky figure as he was taken off during Dortmund’s 1-0 win against Freiburg last weekend, which prompted a furious response from Klopp who confronted him as he left the field.
Bild has now run a report which suggests that his €3 million per year contract will be increased as Klopp looks to keep his key players ahead of a summer where a lot of teams could come knocking for his midfield stars.
Sahin’s current deal expires in 2017 so there’s no real pressure on BVB to get a deal done quickly. However, he’s been a key part of Klopp’s side this season featuring in 24 games, scoring twice and producing three assists.
Bild could be hinting at a one-year or two-year extension to his current contract which would eradicate any chance of him leaving in the summer but unfortunately the original report on the German website carries very little detail.
Klopp has always been a top flight manager who wears his heart on his sleeve and his reaction to Sahin’s sulky stroll off the pitch will be admired by plenty, regardless of the profile or quality of the player.
