Tottenham Hotspur morning news: Sherwood doubts European chances, can Manchester City man save the day?

A round up of news stories this morning about Tottenham Hotspur.

Tottenham head coach Tim Sherwood says he’s fearful over his side’s Champions League future.

Spurs went down 4-0 at Chelsea over the weekend, which was a dent to their hopes of finishing in the top four.

When questioned on Tottenham’s chances of securing Champions League football, Sherwood says his side’s chances are “slim”.

In transfer news, the club have been linked with a move for versatile Manchester City man James Milner.

The Sun has suggested that Tottenham will try and tempt Milner to White Hart Lane with the prospect of regular first team football.

Milner has one-year left to run on his City contract and talks are yet to start over a renewal.

The boss also reacted furiously to that defeat over the weekend, slamming his players for showing a lack of character.

Sherwood has constantly had to deal with the top four question but had some clear words for his players and fans after the defeat.

“The club talks about fourth, wake up. You won’t finish in the top four if you don’t beat top teams. There have been too many blips.”
