Mundo Deportivo has pointed to a source which claims Chelsea could lose one of their best players to Real Madrid.

Catalan based newspaper Mundo Deportivo has run with a story which claims Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois will commit to joining Real Madrid for the 2015/2016 season.

The Spanish site sources ‘The Rail’ on program Cadena SER as the original source of the news, which suggests that the Belgian has already made up his mind over spending his future at the Bernabeu.

However, don’t worry too much Chelsea fans because there is plenty wrong with Mundo’s story and the rumour itself.

Courtois has developed into one of the best goalkeepers in the world through his progression at Atletico Madrid where he’s been able to develop his game on loan over the last few seasons.

Therefore, it’s only natural when the goalkeeper position at a big European side comes up, he’s going to be linked with it.

Jose Mourinho has been very clear that he wants Courtois back at the club this summer and the player himself has said he’s happy to play for Chelsea, but he wants to be the club’s number one.

There is still a very good and realistic chance that the Blues will use Courtois as their number one next season, either forcing Petr Cech to play a smaller role or allowing the Czech to move on.

There is also nothing included in Mundo’s story to back up the apparent claim from ‘The Rail’ and no link provided to the original source for verification.

It’s also confusing as to why Courtois would see Real Madrid as his best move if he decided to spend his future in Spanish football.

Atletico Madrid have made it glaringly obvious that they’d like to keep him if a permanent move was possible and he’s also been mentioned in relation to a move to Barcelona, with Victor Valdes leaving at the end of the season.

In short, don’t worry and don’t believe it.
