Lily Allen: feminism, hotdogs and throwing up in cabs

Lily Allen

Following criticism prompted by comments she reportedly made in a recent interview about feminism, the pop singer has unveiled a new video for the single Our Time, featuring lots of Lilys and a fight with a hotdog. Watch it here and let us know what you think

While the rest of us spent the latter half of last week furiously pumping up paddling pools and dousing our limbs with Factor 50 in anticipation of the blistering March heatwave, Lily Allen was chained to her Twitter account defending comments she made in a recent interview published in Shortlist. “Feminism. I hate that word because it shouldn’t even be a thing anymore,” she reportedly told the men’s magazine before continuing, “I don’t think men are the enemy. I think women are the enemy. I know that when I’m sitting in a restaurant and a really beautiful woman walks in, who’s skinny, I instinctively think, ‘Oh, she’s really skinny and beautiful and I’m really fat and ugly.’ So it’s more of a competitive thing.”

Perhaps her new single will help alleviate some of the pressure: the video for Our Time features Lily venturing into the night in a cab full of other girls. The other girls are admittedly Lily Allen in different wigs, but they are girls none the less.

Watch the video below and let us know what you think.
