Italian media claim Man United eyeing up former Chelsea defender

Alex at PSG

Tutto Mercato has stated that the Premier League champions could turn to Paris Saint-Germain’s Alex this summer.

Manchester United are seemingly linked with a new central defender every couple of days, as David Moyes gets the search to find Nemanja Vidic’s replacement underway.

The latest name to be speculated as a possible defensive target for the Old Trafford outfit is well-known in the Premier League after five years playing for Chelsea.

Alex left the Blues to join Paris Saint-Germain in January 2012, but has been the subject of move rumours in recent weeks.

AC Milan are thought to be a major suitor of the Brazilian centre-half, but Tutto Mercato are stating that United are ready to battle the Rossoneri for the player’s services.

The South American has started 24 Ligue 1 matches for PSG this season, but his contract expires this summer.

With no sign of an extension for the defender at the Parc des Princes, Alex could well be a free agent this summer and free to pursue other options.
