Former Arsenal star Alex Song has hailed Pep Guardiola as the best.
Barcelona midfielder Alex Song has cited Pep Guardiola as the best manager in the world, speaking last night on French television.
Despite never playing under the Spaniard, he believes the current Bayern boss to be the best in the business.
He told BeIN Sport: "The record speaks for him, it is a great coach. Everything speaks for itself. At Barcelona, he has left a very big picture. Today, people still talk about him.
"I have not had the opportunity to know him. They say he had a strong personality. He was close to the players and worked with them.
"When you look at what he did and what he is doing today, I would say he is the best coach in the world."
Taking into consideration the feats Guardiola is leading Bayern to at present, on top of his Barcelona success, it's hard to pick faults in Song's assessment.
It's only a surprise he did not pick Arsene Wenger, recently telling Spanish newspaper El Pais of his admiration for the Frenchman:
"He was also like a father because he helped me and taught me a lot of things about the Premier League, that is the best league in the world. Now we still communicate with each other occasionally."
A criticism of Guardiola remains however that he has inherited superb teams on which to build, first from Frank Rijkaard and now Jupp Heynckes. Even despite this, his achievements, of which he looks set to add more in terms of silverware shouldn't be knocked, and his Bayern side go head-to-head with Arsenal later this week.
