Bayern Munich midfielder Toni Kroos has admitted that he’s never seen Arsenal winger Serge Gnabry play.
The 18-year-old German has featured in four different competitions for the Gunners this season, initially coming into the side when Theo Walcott was out of action over the first half of the campaign.
He’s unlikely to feature from the start tomorrow night in the second leg of the last 16 Champions League clash against Bayern but he could be named as a sub, coming off the bench to have an impact late in the game.
However, when Kroos was asked about the Arsenal youngster by Bundesliga expert Jan Aage Fjortoft, he revealed he’s never physically seen him play but has only heard good things about the teenager.
Kroos on Gnabry: - Havent seen him play. Just read great things about him #AFC— Jan Aage Fjortoft (@JanAageFjortoft) March 10, 2014
What makes the admission all the more remarkable is the fact that Gnabry has been tipped in the German press to potentially make the initial World Cup squad this summer if he performs out of his skin for Arsenal over the rest of the season.
Kicker recently rated the chances of key German players when it comes to making Jorgi Low’s World Cup squad and Gnabry was given an outside chance of eventually being named in the 23.
It’s unlikely but who’s to say Gnabry can’t come off the bench tomorrow night for the Gunners, potentially having a decisive say in the tie.
