Arsenal latest: Guardiola’s tactics and Gunners' ‘great chance’ of cup success

Champions League Pitch

All the latest news, views and transfer rumours from the Emirates…

Arsenal may have just reached the semi-finals of the FA Cup where they will face the holders Wigan Athletic, but their minds are already on the next challenge – namely, Bayern Munich.

The Gunners head to Germany for the second-leg of their Champions League last-16 tie having taken part in some last-minute training this morning.

Arsenal’s official website has published a series of photographs of the players being put through their paces by Arsene Wenger before they attempt to replicate their performance and result when they last played in the Allianz Arena.

Speaking about tomorrow's match, Bayern boss Pep Guardiola said in quotes published by the Express, “Winning 2-0 in London was a very good result for us, but it is also dangerous.

“We have a very good chance to go through, but we have to be in the situation that we really focus on the game.

“They have a lot of quality, so we have to make sure we have a lot of possession.”

Given the players Guardiola can call on, that could well happen, with Arsenal potentially finding it difficult to make their mark on a match they simply must win...and win well.

That said, Bayern failed to turn up in last season’s match, allowing Arsenal to get back into the tie. So history may just repeat itself. Either way, it will be a fascinating match.

And finally, former Arsenal player Ray Parlour has been speaking on Talk Sport about his old club's trophy hopes.

The former midfielder was talking about the Gunners’ FA Cup chances given the four sides left in the competition.

Arsenal have a fantastic chance now,” Parlour said. “Wigan are a very good side this year. Uwe Rosler has got them playing very well.

You have to fancy Arsenal now though, especially at Wembley. It’s a big pitch and I think they’ve got a great chance.”
