Manchester United have a number of players currently on loan, one of whom is 19-year-old winger-cum-forward Jack Barmby.
The son of former England international Nicky Barmby has always been highly-rated, and now he is showing why on a more consistent basis.
The teenager’s goal for Hartlepool against Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday may have ultimately proved to be just a consolation strike, but what a beauty it was.
Barmby controlled the ball with one touch and volleyed it in with the second, the ball curling past the hosts’ goalkeeper Matt Ingram to put the visitors ahead.
Wycombe would later score twice to take all three points, but Barmby’s strike showed he has both the ability and the confidence to be a success in the game.
That strike was his third goal in seven League Two matches, and David Moyes is likely to be paying close attention to a player who appears to have a similar knack for scoring spectacular goals as Nick Powell.
