Another of the Italy champions’ midfielders that has been rumbled as a potential target for David Moyes’ men is Claudio Marchisio.
The cultured playmaker has played his part in the Bianconeri’s run of success over recent years, with United reportedly sitting up and taking note.
However, despite the links to the Old Trafford outfit, the Azzurri regular has stated that he is settled in Turin.
“I want to stay here for a long time, but I am not thinking about the contract renewal, as I still have two years left,” he told reporters, according to goal.com.
“What counts is having the faith of the club and the Coach, which I always sense. I have often changed position on the field to avoid going on to the bench, because versatility and availability must be the priorities of every player.”
The purchase of a new central midfielder that can lead United back into the running for silverware is seemingly Moyes’ priority this summer.
However, with Marchisio seemingly settled in Turin, United will seemingly have to turn to other targets.
