Manager Watch: Jones linked with West Brom, Pardew facing total ban

Recent reports have once again linked Dave Jones with West Brom, while Alan Pardew could be facing more than just a touchline ban.

Just what is going on at West Brom?

Their form on the pitch is one thing, with Pepe Mel's side now without a win in seven Premier League games.

Events in the boardoom, however, appear to be even more confusing, with the aforementioned Mel now looking increasingly unsafe in his position as Baggies head coach.

And the latest name to be linked with replacing the Spaniard is a familiar one, with said manager having come close to getting the job ahead of Mel after Steve Clarke was initially sacked.

Indeed, the Daily Mirror are reporting that former Wolves boss Dave Jones could become West Brom's third coach this season. Alan Curbishley and Keith Downing are said to be alternative options for chairman Jeremy Peace but Jones, also formerly of Cardiff City and Sheffield Wednesday, is Peace's main candidate.

Whatever next at the Hawthorns?

Alan Pardew

Meanwhile, further reports have suggested that Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew could face a complete ban from football for his headbutt on David Meyler.

It had previously been suggested that the Magpies boss would be handed a touchline ban for his altercation with the Hull City man but there might just be precedent for the FA to stop Pardew from conducting all of his duties.

This particular punishment would be rather harsh, however, with the 52-year-old hardly likely to repeat the freak offence, while many Newcastle fans believe the incident to have already been exaggerated by the media.

Nevertheless, if there are rules allowing the FA to go as far as they can, they might just throw the book at Pardew.
