All three sides have reason to seek defensive help this summer – Arsenal need depth behind Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker, whilst Thomas Vermaelen could look to leave the club in search of more regular first-team football. Liverpool's Daniel Agger's future is decidedly murky, and experienced Kolo Toure has been error-prone of late.
Meanwhile, Manchester United boss David Moyes will almost certainly be conducting a full-scale overhaul of his squad at Old Trafford, and central defenders are likely to be high on his list of priorities with experienced duo Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand set to leave the club.
With that in mind, all three clubs have been linked with moves for Hinteregger, but who is he?
Hinteregger primarily plays as centre back, but being predominantly left footed, he has also featured at left back.
The defender has has represented Austria at Under 17, 18, 19 and 21 level, including 13 caps for the Under 21 side.
In November 2013, Hinteregger's outstanding form for Red Bull Salzburg was recognised with his first full cap for Austria, featuring against USA.
Aged just 21, Hinteregger has already made 87 league appearances for Red Bull, having broken into the side in 2010.
Hinteregger hit the headlines in July 2013, as he scored a stunning 70 yard goal against Schalke in a pre-season friendly.
