When Sheffield United and Charlton Athletic first kicked off their latest FA Cup campaign, it is fair to say neither would have expected to be playing each other, just one step away from Wembley.
But that is the beauty of England’s grand old cup competition, and both sides will know just how close they are to one of the biggest days in their history.
In all three previous FA Cup encounters between the two sides, the Blades have come out on top, and Nigel Clough’s men have made it something of a habit to knock out higher-league opposition in this season’s competition, having already seen to Aston Villa, Fulham and Nottingham Forest.
The Addicks are not enjoying the best of league campaigns, but will know a trip to Wembley could be the catalyst for an end-of-season escape act.
United have no such worries in League One, but will hoping to replicate the glory days of yesteryear with a return to the home of English football.
What do you think the result will be today?
