Who says footballers can’t enjoy a treat or two ?
Mathieu Flamini is the lucky star whose birthday on Friday was celebrated with a tasty looking Arsenal / FA Cup cake.
The 30-year-old re-joined Arsenal last summer and has played a vital part in helping Arsene Wenger’s men challenge for the Premier League title.
The French midfielder originally started training at the Emirates so that he could find a club an English club willing to take him on, but he impressed so much that Wenger offered him a two-year deal at Arsenal.
Flamini has proved to be an astute signing, and has made 14 Premier League starts this season. Playing alongiside Mikel Arteta, the two have formed a strong midfield partnership, and have contributed to the club's phenomenal defensive record at the Emirates.
Arsenal go into the weekend lying in third spot in the Premier League, four points behind leaders Chelsea with 10 games remaining. However, Premier League issues will be put to one side this weekend as the Gunners prepare for an FA Cup Quarter Final tie at home to Everton.
Flamini’s birthday cake displays the FA Cup and the club’s badge, and the birthday boy will know that victory over the Toffees later today will be a huge stride forward as Arsenal look to win a trophy for the first time since 2005.
