'Willian is a great player'... but could €48m Brazilian join him at Chelsea

Hulk playing for Brazil

Zenit Saint Petersburg striker Hulk has admitted his happiness at being amongst his fellow Brazilian teammates.

When Hulk opted to leave Porto in 2012, few would have imagined that his likely destination would be Russia. For such a good striker and a Brazilian international, some would say the player valued at €48m by transfermarkt is currently wasting his incredible ability.

In December, according to the Russian journal Izvestia, Hulk gave his biggest indication that he was ready to leave the Russian champions this summer - and finally fulfil his dream of playing for a European giant.

One team who has been linked with the 27-year-old is Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea, and for a side which already contains four Brazilian internationals, the Blues hold a huge advantage over other potential suitors.

Chelsea’s Brazilian quartet recently met up with Hulk on international duty, where they thumped former World Cup hosts South Africa 5-0.

The most notable moments from the trip however were not the minutes spent on the pitch, but the happy atmosphere off it as the players endured some incredible team-bonding sessions – such as competing in a FIFA tournament.

Hulk’s happiness amongst the Seleção was evident, and in an interview reported by Sambafoot, the coveted striker spoke of his wonderful relationship with his national teammates:

“It’s just fun all the time, we’re constantly laughing, we joke around when we get to training, train seriously and then when the game starts it’s war. We’ll play with everything and then after the game it’s back to laughing again. That’s how we live.”

“I try to always have a laugh but, as I said, so does everyone else and it’s just a wonderful atmosphere. I feel very comfortable here and hope to enjoy it for many years to come.”

Hulk went on to talk about a potential future club teammate Willian, and believes the Chelsea man deserves his national call up for his qualities both on and off the pitch:

"Willian is a great player. I've always followed his career since he left Brazil early- I watched him in the Champions League for Shakhtar and have played against him too. He's got incredible quality and is deservedly playing for Brazil as he is a very good player."

"He's playing well for Chelsea and deserves the best because as well as being a good player, he's a great guy off the pitch too, so I wish him the best of luck."

Hulk to move to Premier League title-chasers Chelsea in the summer? It feels like a match made in heaven and a transfer which could help Mourinho solve his current striker dilemma.
