Ancelotti rules Madrid out of race to sign Man United midfield target

Arturo Vidal

The Los Blancos manager has distanced the Spanish giants with a move for Juventus star Arturo Vidal.

Rumblings that Real Madrid were closing in on Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal have been doing the rounds in recent months, but this has been rubbished by Carlo Ancelotti.

With Bianconeri director sighted at the Santiago Bernabeu this week rumours have been rife that the European giants were meeting to take about a deal for the Chile international.

However, Ancelotti has dismissed the rumours and stated that Madrid do not need to sign Vidal.

"He came to see the sports centre," the Madrid boss told La Stampa.

"In midfield we won't take anyone. We don't need anyone and [Sami] Khedira will return."

The comments could well be of interest to David Moyes and Manchester United, who have been sparingly linked with an audacious approach to try and convince Vidal to move to Old Trafford.

With creativity and energy needed in the reigning Premier League champions’ midfield, the Chilean star is said to be on United’s wishlist.
