PSG, Atletico Madrid, Manchester United, AC Milan and Real Madrid stars all feature.
Chelsea could be a very active club in the summer according to some of the transfer rumours connected to the club from the past week.
Jose Mourinho is a manager that plenty of stars want to play for and Chelsea’s resources mean they can afford some of the biggest European and globally based superstars who are available in the transfer market.
We’ve taken a look at the rumours from the past week and come up with a list of the top five players linked with signing for the Blues.
1) Edinson Cavani (Paris Saint-Germain)
The PSG hit man was linked, again, with the Blues towards the start of the week with stories that revealed Chelsea have apparently already started looking at ways to sign him this summer. However, his agent later went onto suggest that his client would be staying at PSG ahead of next season.
2) Diego Costa (Atletico Madrid)
An inconspicuous little story from Spanish site Sport earlier this week contained a small piece of text which suggested the Blues were ready to active the £32 million buy-out clause in the contract of Diego Costa. However, other reports from Spain this week have suggested a £41 million price for the Spanish star.
3) Robin Van Persie (Manchester United)
The Dutchman is reportedly a very unhappy bunny at the moment following Manchester United’s struggles this week. Chelsea are one of the clubs linked with potentially offering him a way out of Old Trafford and a route back to London which he could snap up if reports of his unhappiness are accurate.
4) Mario Balotelli (AC Milan)
The Italian continues to be linked with a move to Stamford Bridge. Chelsea’s necessity for a world class striker up front is clear and Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has just refused to rule out a move for the forward.
“In football you never know the future. Balotelli is with a big club at the moment but you never know the future,” said the boss.
5) Raphael Varane (Real Madrid)
At some point the Blues are going to have to buy a player who can come into the side and replace John Terry. Maybe they already have with the recent acquisition of Kurt Zouma. However, that hasn’t stopped reports this week suggesting a move for Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane, someone Mourinho has been very complimentary about.
“I think he [Varane] is the best central defender in the world, a young one I think he’s the best. Already, yes. I think he’s the best,” Mourinho told Yahoo.
