Liverpool’s Agger comments on tackle that injured Arsenal’s Wilshere

The Denmark international stated that he was going for the ball and showed little remorse for the challenge that injured the England midfielder.

Arsenal are paying the price from the recent international friendlies, with Jack Wilshere ruled out for six weeks after a challenge from Daniel Agger.

The Gunners’ midfielder picked up a hairline fracture injury after the Liverpool defender lunged into a tackle in a friendly between England and Denmark.

Arsene Wenger and the Emirates Stadium faithful have been livid with the Reds’ centre-half, but Agger has stated that he was going for the ball and has shown little remorse for his actions.

"It was 50-50. You have to go for those challenges," Agger told the Daily Mirror.

"I was going for the ball and I think I got the ball, but the referee didn't."

Wilshere will now miss a lot of the rest of the season, with the injury prone midfielder surely stressed about missing out on this summer’s World Cup.

Arsenal are hoping Aaron Ramsey will return to fitness to nullify the impact of Wilshere’s absence.
