Manchester United manager David Moyes was reportedly in Paris last night as the French national side eased to a 2-0 win over the Netherlands.
There are three potential reasons he was in attendance and two of them relate to French players he may have been scouting; Antoine Griezmann and former United star Paul Pogba.
Real Sociedad winger Griezmann is a player United have been heavily linked with in the recent past along with other Premier League interest coming from Arsenal.
Considering the inconsistency of United’s wide men over the last two seasons, there is a clear argument to suggest that a winger should be one of his priorities heading into the summer transfer market.
Arsenal are reported to have had a £12.5 million offer turned down for Griezmann which suggests United should be able to compete in any bidding war which breaks out for him.
As for Pogba, reported United interest in re-signing the youngster has been everywhere since he started producing world class performances in the black and white stripes of Juventus.
If United do want to try and take Pogba back to Old Trafford then it’s not going to be cheap with reports suggesting a fee of around £50 million when talking of interest from Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain
The third reason for Moyes’ presence at the game could have been to monitor his own players with Patrice Evra starting in the French defence while Robin Van Persie led the Dutch attack.
Van Persie had a stinker as he managed just a single shot on target throughout the whole game while Evra achieved the unique feat of a 100% passing accuracy during his 45 minutes on the pitch.
It will be interesting to see if any questions are put to Moyes tomorrow at his press conference over his exact reason for going to Paris last night.
